TSSML: TRAVELLING TO VIETNAM AND LEARNING ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING
5 avril 2013
Last May, Simple Plan traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam to participate in the massive MTV Exit project to raise awareness and help educate youth on the dangers and realities of human trafficking and exploitation. During their time there, the guys spent time with survivors and learned more about the global issue from local educators on what the reality is like to be an individual who is at risk of human trafficking.
In true Simple Plan fashion, the guys documented their experiences and want everyone to get involved in helping to end these horrific crimes. In partnership with MTV Exit, USAid, AusAID and WalkFree, Simple Plan has released their video diary of their journey in Vietnam. You can read more about it on MTV Buzzworthy and also watch the SP+MTVExit video for "This Song Saved My Life".

List of our partners, donators and sponsors
The Simple Plan Foundation happy to announce more than $250 000 in donations to various charities and reaches $1 000 000 in overall donations

This is the highest amount to date given by the Foundation, thus surpassing the $1 000 000 mark since its inception, a very proud moment for the band.
For the first time this year, the Foundation has chosen to feature certain causes that correspond best to their objectives by making a more substantial donation to organizations which represent them.
The 3 featured for 2012-2013 were:
- War Child Canada: helping victims of the crisis in Congo, a donation matched this year by the Slaight Family Foundation.
- Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation: dedicated to the Simple Plan Multi-media room project, a special area equipped with the latest electronic equipment & new technologies, dedicated to the service of multi-specialties & transplant department, in the hopes of improving the quality of life of it’s young patients who will often spend very long periods of time hospitalized.

Representatives of these 3 organizations were present and spoke to the huge benefits of these generous donations.
Beyond these specific organizations, the Simple Plan Foundation continues to support various causes, for instance anti-bullying campaigns such as Jeunesse J’écoute, GRIS, and Tel-Jeunes via their Intimider c’est dépassé campaign. Additionally, Pierre Bouvier has just recently participating in the Artists against Bullying campaign, joining several of Canada’s top artists to record a new version of the Cindy Lauper classic True Colours.
Internationally, the Foundation continues to offer its support to a number of humanitarian causes, such as the fight against modern human trafficking around the world, recently playing a sold-out show in Hanoi in collaboration with MTV Vietnam for this particular cause.
Simple Plan receives 2 prestigious humanitarian awards
In recognition of their work via the Simple Plan Foundation, the band was recently honoured with two very prestigious awards: the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award received at the 2012 Juno ceremony, and the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award, with the band to receive this honor in March 2013 during Canadian Music Week. The group members are extremely proud to be the youngest recipients of these 2 prestigious awards, and hope that their experience can inspire other young artists to get involved in their own way. Of course these types of honors are rarely won without the support and tireless work of a temp of partners & collaborators, and Simple Plan wish to thank everyone who has helped them in these endeavors.

SIMPLE PLAN PERFORMS AT THE MTV EXIT LIVE IN VIETNAM
28 mai 2012
Last week-end, on May 26th, 2012, Simple Plan was performing in front of more than 40 000 fans at Hanoi’s My Dinh Stadium for this year’s MTV EXIT live event, to support the campaign against human trafficking, a crime that affects 2.5 million people worldwide.
It was the band’s first-ever performance in Vietnam and they were particularly happy to participate in this nation-wide initiative to raise awareness of this modern-day slavery and fight exploitation. The show, completed by a documentary in which SP contributed, will be broadcast in a few weeks on MTV Vietnam.
Once again, Simple Plan shows its faith in the power of music as an incredible force for awareness and change.
WHEN MUSIC SAVES LIVES

A SHOW IN HANOI TO SUPPORT MTV EXIT
18 avril 2012
Simple Plan will be hitting the stage at Hanoi's My Dinh Stadium on May 26th, to support the MTV Exit (End Exploitation and Trafficking) campaign, a nation-wide initiative to combat human trafficking through youth engagement, live events and television programming. Human trafficking is a crime that affects 2.5 million people worldwide - and Simple Plan are proud to be involved with such an important cause.
“Over our career, it’s always been very important for us to get involved socially and support causes that are close to our hearts. We started the Simple Plan Foundation with the goal of helping young people in need,” said Chuck Comeau. “Teaming up with MTV EXIT to raise global awareness around the issue of human trafficking is exactly what our mission is all about. Human trafficking is a horrible crime with devastating consequences for so many young people and their families. We are proud to stand together with MTV EXIT and their partners in the fight against exploitation. We can’t wait to play in Vietnam for the first time and are looking forward to informing our fans on how they can get involved and help out.”
You can join Simple Plan in the fight against human trafficking by signing up here to receive more information.
Details on how to get your free tickets to the MTV Exit event with Simple Plan and other local artists will be announced soon!

RECIPIENT OF THE JUNO’S ALLAN WATERS HUMANITARIAN AWARD, SIMPLE PLAN IS NAMED « PERSONALITY OF THE WEEK » BY LA PRESSE / RADIO-CANADA
11 avril 2012
The members of Simple Plan were present at THE 2012 JUNO AWARDS held last March 31 and April 1. They performed during the broadcast, playing with K’Naan their latest single Summer Paradise. During the weekend, the band also had the opportunity to visit The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada, at his home in Ottawa. Of course, the guys couldn't pass up a chance to get a photo together.
But they were particularly honored to be the recipients of the Allan Waters Humanitarian award for the work they have accomplished through the Simple Plan Foundation, dedicated to helping young people in need or victim of life threatening illnesses. They were all the more proud since they are the youngest artists to ever receive this award. Obviously moved by this honour, they delivered a touching acceptance speech which was warmly received by the audience.
Because of this recognition and to salute their commitment to youth welfare, La Presse and Radio-Canada have named the five members of Simple Plan « Personalities of the Week ». Pierre, Chuck, jeff, Sébastien and David cetainly intend to continue their foundation’s initiatives. Since it was created, the Simple Plan Foundation has already donated $ 750 000 to different youth-focused charities in Quebec, Canada and even abroad and should reach the outstanding milestone of $1 million in donations in 2012.
It’s because they have read hundreds of letters from their fans thanking Simple Plan for helping them to go through tough times, and then felt they had to go a step beyond, that the members of the band are now doing a bit more than just write songs. Still, these songs are the starting point and the common thread of their more direct involvement, showing eloquently the awesome power of music.

HOSPITAL VISITS
9 janvier 2012
On December 23rd, Chuck and Sébastien visited sick children and teenagers in three Montreal Hospitals: St-Justine Hospital, Montreal Children’s Hospital and Le Phare, Enfants et Familles.
It's never easy to have to spend the holiday season in the hospital, and it's probably even harder to deal with for young kids and teenagers. It was important for Chuck and Seb to go spend a little bit of time with them, cheer them on and encourage them. Judging by all the smiles, the visit was greatly appreciated, both by the kids and by the band.

THE JOINT BENEFIT CONCERT SIMPLE PLAN-OSM WAS A GREAT SUCCESS
25 septembre 2011
The members of Simple Plan and the volunteers of the foundation, and our OSM’s partners, are tremendously proud to announce that their annual benefit event, which took place September 20th, 2011, at La Maison symphonique de Montréal, was a real success.
The benefit concert surpassed its initial objective by raising more than $300 000
Simple Plan’s partnership with the OSM turned out to be an amazing event : in front of 2 000 enthousiastic fans (the show was sold out), the musicians all together put up an outstanding performance in the fantastic orchestra’s new hall, La Maison symphonique de Montréal. The conductor, Simon Leclerc, who made the arrangements, has brilliantly succeeded in mixing the pop-rock energy of the band with the symphonic sound. Sixteen songs were chosen, among the new and classical Simple Plan’s hits. Because of the complicity between the artists, the magic of music couldn’t work better.
Same as last year, the popular emcee and producer, Éric Salvail, did a real good job as the host, coordinating all the details. Besides the concert, an auction offering many attractive items and a draw were organized for the pleasure of our guests and, of course, to collect even more money. The aim of this unique evening was to raise funds to profit the Simple Plan Foundation and educational activities of the OSM. We were happy to announce that we succeeded in surpassing our objective by raising more than $300 000 !
We are very proud of the result but, above all, we are extremely grateful to all those who contributed in a way or another to make this evening truly special and unforgettable. Thank you very sincerely to all our partners, donators and sponsors, collaborators and volunteers, who generously helped us and made possible this wonderful event.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT !

Donations totalling $220 000
During a press conference in the afternoon, just before the benefit concert, the Simple Plan Foundation has made donations to more than 20 different charitable organizations dedicated to helping troubled or sick youths for an amount of
$220 000. Since 2008, it’s a total of $700 000 that has been donated.
Let’s mention that, this year, the Simple Plan Foundation is supporting a few new charities, among them Dans la rue, an organization that takes care of some of the most destitute young people in our society, particularly by providing an innovative music program as a therapeutic tool.
The Simple Plan Foundation was also very happy to be able this year to team up with the CN’s Miracle Match program. Part of the 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open, this charitable initiative is supporting pediatric care. As the Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation and The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation have been selected by the CN this year, the SPF’s donations have been matched by the CN, doubling the amount dedicated to our projects !

ÉRIC SALVAIL WILL HOST THE BENEFIT CONCERT SPF-OSM
26 août 2011
The members of Simple Plan and the foundation are happy to announce that the very popular host Éric Savail will emcee the joint benefit concert with Simple Plan and the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra (OSM) to be held next September 20, to benefit young people.
Already last year, Éric Salvail has hosted the SPF’s benefit lunch at the Club sportif MAA. Considering that the event was a great success, he had no hesitation to repeat the experience especially as this year the concert will be unique and exclusive, bringing together 2 000 people in the OSM’s brand new hall. The SP-OSM association will be the occasion to discover in a spectacular way a new dimension to the Simple Plan repertoire.
Éric’s profile responds perfectly to our needs : funny, open and friendly, yet very professional, he will certainly be at ease to present brilliantly the various activities on the program : the Meet & Greet before the concert, the presentation of the show, the draw and the auction. In the afternoon, he will also emcee the press conference during which will be announced the charities receiving a donation.
Éric as well as the members of the band are obviously delighted to work together again and they invite you to come and share their pleasure. There is still a few tickets left : hurry up !

SHOW YOUR STRENGTH
25 août 2011
Simple Plan have announced their support in a youth oriented campaign called “Show Your Strength”, developed by Brook Peters. Brook originally began the project with a film he made called “The Second Day”, about his second day of kindergarten on September 11, 2001, blocks away from the Ground Zero site. During the promotion of his film, Brook realized that his message of inner strength was universal and that youth around the world face challenges that require courage and resilience on a daily basis.
The “Show Your Strength” campaign will culminate in a music video, set to Simple Plan’s fan-favourite track “What If”. Brook says he approached the band to use the song “because I feel it makes listeners question what they can do to change themselves and, in turn, help change the world.” All youth are invited to participate in the “Show Your Strength” project by sending a photo of themselves with a personal statement or story on their inner strength. A JAM SESSION WITH SIMPLE PLAN : AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE !
15 mai 2011
When they were in Montreal recently, the Simple Plan members invited the winner of the prize, that had been put up for auction last November 14 at the Club sportif MAA, to join them to jam a few songs and to play music together.
Matthew McCormack, a young SP fan who is particularly talented in music, was absolutely delighted by his experience. He was accompanied by the members of his family, who also seemed to have enjoyed their afternoon, just as the members of the band who took pleasure in sharing these moments with them.
We wish Matthew a lot of success in all his projects !

The benefit event Preview of Simple Plan’s 4th Album was also a great success: : the room was packed with SP fans and supporters and the guests all had an amazing time. PIERRE CONTRIBUTES TO “WAVIN’ FLAG” FOR YOUNG ARTISTS FOR HAITI
22 mars 2010
Musical icon, Bob Ezrin announces that more than 50 of the country’s best and brightest young artists gathered today at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver to record a song dedicated to the recovery efforts in earthquake ravaged Haiti.
The song, a rendition of hip-hop artist, K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag” will be released in the coming weeks with proceeds going to Free The Children, War Child Canada and World Vision Canada.
“With the wealth of young artists coming out of Canada, it was obvious that this is something we had to do,” says Ezrin. “K’naan’s lyrics in Wavin’ Flag embody the pain, passion and determination of the Haitian people and lend the hope of a brighter future. SOUVENIR VIDEO OF THE SIMPLE PLAN FOUNDATION’S BENEFIT SHOW Metropolis – 09/09/24
30 novembre 2009
Thanks to CyberCap, you can now see a short video showing the highlights of the Simple Plan Foundation’s benefit show, which took place at the Metropolis, in Montreal, last September 24. The document gives a good idea of the event for people who couldn’t attend and will certainly remind those who were present of a nice evening.
CyberCap is a non profit organisation, whose mission is to help young people in need by giving them the opportunity to discover and experiment the multimedia industry, in order to prevent their drop out from school and to contribute to their integration into the world of work. During the show, the volunteers of CyberCap, under the supervision of Étienne Bégin Thibault, were in charge of recording and live broadcasting the event on giant screens and, afterwards, they used that material to produce the souvenir document.
Congratulations and many thanks !

Results of the Nidanay Project

These two new donations add to the $1 100 raised by the bowling evening organized by Jessica Supple and to the $1 850 raised by the second benefit show put on by Valérie Thorn.
The Simple Plan Foundation wants to thank warmly all these fans who decided to involve themselves personally in a fundraising event and can only encourage them to continue supporting its charitable causes.

THE SIMPLE PLAN FOUNDATION HAS MADE DONATIONS TOTALIZING $170 000 TO DIFFERENT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
24 septembre 2009
The Simple Plan Foundation was proud to announce, during a press conference held earlier the same day as the benefit show, the list of organizations receiving a donation for 2009-2010. The total amount reaches $170 000 ; it’s $70 000 more than last year.
Though many of the recipients are actually repeats from last year, in order to maintain a constant presence within many of the programs the Foundation is involved with, others will benefit new partners whose mission fits more precisely with the Foundation’s objectives. Naturally the amount of demands to the Foundation increased tenfold this year, not only in total amount but in the diversity of said demands. Difficult choices had to be made, thusly the Foundation decided to focus its efforts on organizations directly supporting music as a way to help the youth.
The Simple Plan Foundation aims to help young people in need, stricken with serious illness or going through teenage problems: drugs, depression, suicide, poverty and the effects of war. Through donations and work with various groups and organizations, the Foundation strives to make a difference in the lives of this youth. For the band members, the promotion of musical programs in schools is a viable way to help young people develop a passion and to find a sense of purpose in life. Also very important to the Foundation are musical therapy programs for the handicapped or gravely ill children.
Sponsorship of “Musique X” and “Garage à musique”
This year, the Foundation has chosen to sponsor musical therapy programs in hospitals as well as music development programs in under-privileged neighborhoods which can offer a safe and accessible environment for the youth to express their creativity with appropriate supervision.
And so it is with great pleasure that the members of the band have decided to sponsor the “Musique X” and “Garage à Musique” programs.
Back in August 2008, the band had committed to doing something special for the youth of Montreal-North, and it is through this commitment, along with the support of various partners,
that the “Musique X” program was born and developed. Jointly, a similar program was being developed by Dr. Gilles Julien, founder of the centers for social pediatrics; the “Garage à Musique” – specifically created for the development of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve youth through music. For Simple Plan, getting involved with both of these programs was a natural fit, and it is their hope that through this sponsorship more attention will be brought to this worthy cause.

SIMPLE PLAN REVEALS WORLDWIDE CHARITY SINGLE
14 octobre 2008
Lava/Atlantic recording group Simple Plan has announced details surrounding their upcoming iTunes Store single, “Save You.” Net proceeds from each download sale will be distributed to cancer charities around the world, through the Montreal-based band’s own Simple Plan Foundation. “Save You” – which is also found on Simple Plan’s self-titled third studio album – will be released worldwide via iTunes, available in the U.S. and Canada on October 14th.
“Save You” was penned in tribute to lead singer Pierre Bouvier’s brother Jay, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer at the age of 28. Thankfully now in remission, Bouvier’s illness inspired the band to include cancer awareness as one of the initiatives of the Simple Plan Foundation. Thus far, the Foundation has donated over $100,000 to various charitable organizations around Canada and has raised over another $200,000 at various benefit events. In addition, Simple Plan has donated portions of their merchandise sales as well as 50 cents from each ticket sold on their recent and forthcoming tours. For full details on the charity organization, please visit www.simpleplanfoundation.org.
“After what happened to someone so close to us, we feel that, as a band, we had to do something to help,” explain Simple Plan in a statement. “We should get involved and use our voice to make a difference in the fight against cancer.”
In addition to the “Save You” single, a special companion video is currently in production. The clip will feature appearances from cancer survivors from all walks of life, including such famous faces as Sharon Osbourne, Marissa Winokur (of the original Broadway production of Hairspray), Barenaked Ladies’ Kevin Hearn, and Saku Koivu (captain of the NHL’s Montreal Canadians).
The philanthropic effort behind “Save You” is the result of a partnership between Simple Plan, iTunes, Lava/Atlantic, and Warner/Chappell Music, the song’s publisher. The donation period begins on October 14th and continues through January 31st, 2009.

Participants are asked to complete a 15 second video montage that includes a Simple Plan song extract of their choice.
